What do I need to do if I have an emergency and need to shut off the water supply to a plumbing fixture?

Look for the valve closest to the fixture. Most fixtures will have an individual shutoff valve located beneath the fixture. It will likely be a chrome valve. Sinks and showers may have two valves, one for hot and one for cold water.

How do I shut off the water supply to our house?

Identify the main shutoff valve. This is usually a brass valve which has a round handle. In the majority of homes, it is located near to the point where the water pipe makes its way into the property: often in the kitchen, downstairs WC or even the utility room. In warmer areas, this valve may be found outside. In colder climates, it will be inside the home.

What can I do about a blocked toilet?

Basically, when a toilet is blocked, you should leave it alone until a professional looks at it. Flushing it can cause more problems for you. So, if your toilet blocks, just call us and we can use our diagnostic equipment to determine the problem and then fix it so that things can get back to normal.

I have a blocked drain. Can you help?

Yes, we can help. One of our specialties is fixing general plumbing problems such as blocked drains. We have the appropriate state-of-the art equipment to handle such problems and the expertise to solve them and get your drain working again.

I can smell gas around my gas meter. Is this normal?

Sometimes you will notice a smell of gas around your gas meter, however it should only be slight and detectable only very occasionally. If there is a strong smell of gas constantly around your meter, then we advise you turn you gas off and call 0488 255 211 immediately.

How often should a hot water system be serviced?

You need to check the relief valves every 4 months to ensure that they are in working order, and replace these valves every five years. The anode in an electric or solar hot water system requires replacement every five years.
